Game 1- Capitol Bail Bonds vs. Enfield Starrs
Jay Hoyne caught an Interception on the first play from scrimmage but Starr’s defense held strong. Starrs drove down and scored on a TD pass from Josh Spence to Jeff Russell. Starrs Defense got an INT from Rick Starzyk, and then scored again on a strike from Spence to Ivan Schmidt. Penalties and field position battles were prominent in the 2nd half, Red getting a late INT from Kevin Rooney and towards the end of the game the Bail Bonds returned a punt for a TD by #81 James Tierinni. The Starrs then put it away with Pat Jubrey scoring a late receiving TD. James Grigaitis scored 3 sacks, Junior Haslem 2 sacks and Starrs also received INT’s from Brandon Johnson and Ivan Schmidt.
Final Score- 18-7 Starrs
Player of the Game- Ivan Schmidt- Numerous catches in traffic, 1 TD and 1 INT.
Game 2- Northeast Realty vs. Burris Logistics
Another Interception on the first play happened in this game, with D. Chism picking it off and returning it back for a TD. Realty came back and Tim Shea hit Greg Green on a TD over the middle. After a halftime score of only 7-0, Realty came out strong in the second half. Nick Follo caught a shovel pass TD and also recorded 2 sacks and Nick Coleman caught a late TD grab to seal the deal. The Realty defense was powered by Alex Hodges who had 2 Interceptions and Brian Green who also had an INT.
Final Score- 21-7 Realty
Player of the Game- Nick Follo- Made some nice catches at WR, also had some receptions from the backfield with a lot of yardage, finished with a TD and 2 Sacks in total.
Game 3- Body by Design vs. Quiet Storm
This game started with an early flourish from Yellow. Bob Grant found #44 Chris on a pass into the back of the end zone. After a punt, Grant then found WR Billy Winegardner on another TD pass over the middle. Storm battled back, with QB Laquane Booze passing to WR Quan Yearwood for a great catch and run to cut the lead to 14-7. Grant drove down and found #44 Chris on a second touchdown to seal the game. A late TD was scored towards the end of the game, with QB Booze passing his second TD of the game. That was the last score giving Yellow their second victory of the year.
Final Score- 21-14 Yellow
Player of the game- #44 Chris from Yellow, scored on 2 receiving TD’s from Bob Grant.
Game 4- Reils vs. Dolphins
Dolphins scored first in this one, RJ Anderson scrambling for a TD to go up 7-0 early. Reils then answered back with QB Doug Semenuk hitting WR Chris Miller on a deep strike down the sideline. Reils poured it on from there, Semenuk found Murph with a nice jump ball to go up 14-7. The Reils D-Line was the story, causing pressure all day long. Tenius Mcluster and Carl Harding paced the Reils Defense with a sack a piece. Before half, Semenuk found Miller again in the back of the end zone. After the second half began, Jamal Mcluster caught an INT early on for Reils. Dolphins did attempt a comeback; RJ Anderson found Tyrell Wellington on a nice pass over the middle to cut the lead to 21-7. Reils then put the game away, Semenuk passed to Mark Szerolli with little time left to finish it off.
Final Score- 28-14 Reils
Player of the Game- Doug Semenuk- This was a bounce back week for this QB and Reils. 4 TD passes against a good Dolphins team is a great sign for Reils.
Game 5- POW vs. Swarm
POW started off strong in this one. Tim Burdick went down the field and found Ryan Fagan for an early TD pass. The very next play from scrimmage Ryan Fagan caught an Interception, and brought it back for another score to go up 12-0 in the early going. Mike Russell and Kenneth walker both had 1st half interceptions for Swarm. POW’s defense was strong all game with sacks coming from Dom Russo (2), Rich Morsi and also a safety from Joe Pedemonti. Ben Wry also caught a TD pass from Burdick, and Joe Adams had a late INT for Swarm also, but it was too little too late. Another interception came on the last play of the game from Tim Burdick.
Final Score- 21-0 POW
Player of the Game- Ryan Fagan- Had 2 big scores, 1 one on the receiving end from Tim Burdick and then another on an INT returned for a touchdown. He leads the league in points through 2 weeks of play.
Looking forward to a nice week 3 before we head into break.
