Seeing how we still have a split decision (4 and 4) and that a Saturday set of games is not likely to work w/o a likely forfeit by one team to the advantage of another, we really do not have another option in an effort to keep the Super Bowl the Sunday before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Therefore, I have to break the tie and state that all 8 teams will make the playoffs. We will continue to do the regular season as scheduled and instead of having two first round byes for the division winners and the next 4 best records make the playoffs, we will revert to our typical playoff seeding routine where 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 will be the first weekend of playoff games on November 4th. November 11th will pit the winners reseeded as usual. November 18th will be the Super Bowl at (HOPEFULLY) the full size regulation field at Shallowbrook, should the 2 participants wish to pay the extra money required for the full length field experience and trial of the potential new facility for next year.
On a related note – I believe we have a “short list” of Presidential Candidates worked up already (you know who you are), but I will be resigning the position at the pre-playoff meeting of team reps on the last day of the regular season. Time to call it for me. I hope to have an agreement in principle with Shallowbrook by then, so perhaps a preliminary discussion can be had regarding the field location for next year to ensure a smooth transition. If the league can commit early, then Shallowbrook can start promoting the league and landing new teams to get back to 12 or more. It’s the only way to do it.
It’s been a lot of fun over the years since 1994 (sans 5 year break at UCONN) !
